Bump & Grind Workshop

  • Bump & Grind Technique: Learn the fundamental bump and grind moves that define classic burlesque. Jessabelle will guide you through these iconic movements, teaching you how to add your own flair and personality to each step.
  • Choreographed Routine: Master a fun and sassy choreographed routine set to some of the most beloved hits from the 90s. You'll learn how to combine bump and grind techniques with playful and sultry choreography that will leave a lasting impression.
  • Musicality & Rhythm: Explore how to connect your movements with the music, hitting the beats and accents with precision. Jessabelle will help you tap into the rhythm, making sure you feel every groove and bump in the music.
  • Confidence & Stage Presence: Elevate your stage presence with tips and tricks from Jessabelle herself. Learn how to command the stage with confidence, using your body and expression to captivate your audience.

Rhythm & Flow Workshop

Step into a world of sensuality and fluidity with the Rhythm & Flow Workshop, where you'll connect deeply with your body and movement. Led by the mesmerising American burlesque icon Jessabelle Thunder, this class is designed to help you master the art of sensual body isolations, allowing you to move with grace, confidence, and intention.

Skills Covered:

  • Essential Showgirl Warm-Up: Begin with a targeted warm-up that focuses on the muscles essential for achieving the perfect showgirl posture. We'll work on strengthening and elongating the muscles to help you stand tall and move gracefully.
  • Sensual Body Isolations: Learn the technique of isolating different parts of your body to create smooth, controlled, and captivating movements. Jessabelle will guide you through exercises that focus on isolating the hips, chest, and shoulders, helping you to move each part independently and with sensuality.
  • Flow & Fluidity: Discover how to connect your isolations into a seamless flow of movement. This section of the workshop focuses on transitioning between movements with grace, creating a continuous and mesmerising dance that feels as good as it looks.
  • Musicality & Rhythm: Tap into the rhythm of the music, allowing it to guide your movements. Jessabelle will teach you how to listen to and interpret the music, finding the perfect moments to emphasise with your body. Led by the ever-talented Jessabelle Thunder, this workshop is all about having fun, learning new tricks, and incorporating them into a stunning routine that will leave your audience in awe.

  • Boa Tricks & Techniques: Discover a variety of fun and flirty tricks you can do with a boa. Jessabelle will teach you how to twirl, tease, and play with your boa, making it a captivating part of your performance. Whether it's creating dramatic shapes or adding a touch of cheeky flair, you'll learn how to make your boa sing.
  • Incorporating the Boa into Choreography: Learn how to seamlessly integrate your boa tricks into a choreographed routine. Jessabelle will guide you through a fun and energetic routine that highlights your newfound boa skills, helping you to move with confidence and style.
  • Stage Presence & Expression: Enhance your stage presence by using your boa to express emotion and attitude. Jessabelle will show you how to use your boa to captivate your audience, whether you're going for sultry, playful, or glamorous.
  • Prop Mastery: Develop a deeper understanding of how to handle and control your boa with finesse. This workshop will focus on the practical aspects of working with this iconic burlesque prop, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident with it on stage.
  • Choreographed Routine: By the end of the workshop, you'll have a complete routine that showcases your boa skills and stage presence. This routine is designed to be fun, engaging, and easily adaptable to your own style and performances.

Make Your Boa Sing is perfect for dancers of all levels, from beginners who have never used a boa before to seasoned performers looking to add new tricks to their repertoire. If you have your own boa, bring it along! If not, don't worry—there will be small boas available to use on the day. Join us for a fun-filled workshop where you’ll learn to make your boa the star of the show, all under the expert guidance of Jessabelle Thunder.

Whether you are a beginner or have some dance experience, you are welcome to join me in celebrating your body, exploring movement, and developing your skills. I aim to create an inclusive environment where all can feel comfortable expressing themselves and learning at their own pace. So, don't worry if you are new to dance, I am here to support and encourage you through every bump, grind, and shimmy.

What To Bring:

Please bring a towel and water bottle.

You are welcome to bring a pen and paper/notebook to take notes during the workshops, but it is not required.

Dance heels are required for most workshops, please check the individual workshop descriptions.

Kneepads are recommended for any floorwork, please check the individual workshop descriptions.

Dress Code:

I want you to feel comfortable and confident during class, so wear something that makes you feel good! Leggings, shorts, and a singlet are all great options. You're also welcome to wear lingerie or any other clothing that makes you feel sexy. However, please make sure you are able to move freely and safely in whatever you choose to wear.

In addition, I recommend wearing dance heels if possible. This will help you practice proper stance and technique, and will give you a better feel for the classic burlesque style. However, if you're not comfortable in heels, you're welcome to wear flat dance shoes or bare feet. Whatever you choose, make sure you feel comfortable and confident to strut your stuff!
